Moderne Raffrollos: Wie neue Roman Shades Räume sofort aufwerten

Modern Roman blinds: How new Roman shades instantly enhance rooms

Window decorations are both a functional necessity and a design statement. Aspects such as privacy, light filtering, and ease of use should always be considered when making a selection. While some areas—such as hallways, entryways, or rooms overlooking a private garden—can manage without window decorations, bathrooms and bedrooms almost always require good privacy and light control.

Depending on who lives in a room, additional factors come into play: How easy should it be to operate? Is complete blackout required? And how easily accessible is the window?

The choice of operating mechanism is crucial. If the window is easily accessible, a cordless system is particularly suitable. If the window is located somewhat higher up, a classic chain or cord pull is often the more practical solution. For very tall windows or floor-to-ceiling glass surfaces, however, a motorized system is recommended – convenient, safe, and modern.

A practical example

In a recent project, three adjacent rooms were equipped with new window solutions: two children's rooms and a shared bathroom.

Although the bathroom window was frosted, the residents desired additional privacy in the evenings and early mornings. At the same time, they wanted the window treatment to add warmth to the room and blend harmoniously with the existing design. They opted for a custom-made, loosely draped Roman blind with a 60% opacity lining. The result is soft, inviting, and functional all at once. Installation was straightforward, using several brackets that offered ample adjustment for precise positioning.

Custom-made Roman blinds were also used in the two children's rooms, but these offer complete blackout. This solution is ideal for naps and longer periods of rest on bright mornings. They are operated via a classic pull-chain mechanism, which is easy to use. The gentle curve of a relaxed Roman shade lends the rooms a friendly, inviting atmosphere without appearing too formal.

Function before style – and then combining both.

When choosing window decorations, function should always be the primary consideration. Design should follow as a secondary consideration. Loosely draped Roman blinds are particularly well-suited for single windows, as their soft shape creates a pleasant, homey atmosphere.

For several windows located directly next to each other, a classic Roman blind with clear pleats is recommended. These are easier to adjust and require less maintenance in everyday use.

In terms of design, neutral colors create a particularly calm and balanced effect in transitional spaces or already heavily decorated rooms. Those who wish to add accents, however, can play with patterns and combine complementary colors in different scales.

With the right balance of function, material and color, Roman blinds become a real upgrade for any room.
