Fabric loops are suitable for a loose, decorative look. The loops are threaded over a rod or a suitable support system.

With a firmly mounted rod, however, it should be noted that closed fabric loops can usually only be installed if the rod can be detached on at least one side.

Loops with hook-and-loop fasteners

Loops with hook-and-loop fasteners are particularly practical for pergolas with already fixed rods or beams.

The loop can be opened, wrapped around the existing structure, and then re-closed. This eliminates the need to completely remove the rod.

A pergola is often open on several sides. This allows wind to get behind the curtain and push a large fabric area outwards.

Therefore, with a pergola, the question should not only be: "How do I hang the curtain at the top?" but also: "How should it be held at the bottom?"

Weighted hem

A weighted hem ensures that the curtain hangs more calmly and straight. It can reduce light fluttering and is optically very inconspicuous.

This solution is particularly suitable for:

• Protected pergolas
• Areas with low wind exposure
• Partially closed side constructions
• Customers who do not want visible attachment points

However, in stronger winds, a weighted hem alone does not provide a firm connection to the pergola.

Metal eyelets at the bottom

Metal eyelets at the bottom edge allow for direct fixation.

Depending on the construction, suitable items such as:

Individual fastening straps

For pergolas with posts, side or middle fastening straps can be a practical addition.

6. How to measure pergola curtains correctly?

For a pergola, the entire outer width of the structure should not automatically be used as the curtain measurement if a significant drape is desired.

First, it must be determined where the curtain will actually be attached.

Step 1: Measure each pergola section individually

If the pergola has several vertical posts, each section between the posts should be measured separately.

Note down:

• Width of the first section
• Width of the second section
• Width of further sections
• Height of each area

Do not automatically assume that all sections are exactly the same size. Even small differences can be relevant for custom-made products.

For a large pergola, a single very wide curtain is not automatically the most practical solution.

However, with great width, it can:

• require more space when opened sideways
• create a larger wind attack surface

Multiple panels

Several individual pergola curtains allow for more flexible use.

8. How much extra width is needed for pleats?

The selected width of a custom-made curtain should not automatically be equated with the width of the pergola opening if a distinct drape is desired.

A curtain with approximately the same fabric width as the area to be covered will hang comparatively smooth.

How much additional width is appropriate depends on factors such as:

• avoid prolonged contact with standing water
• do not use aggressive cleaning agents or bleaches
• protect metal eyelets and other fasteners during cleaning
• allow curtains to dry completely before long-term storage
• open, secure, or remove in case of storms or extreme weather conditions
