Curtains for large windows: play of light and spatial effect
High windows, panoramic views, conservatories – here, curtain planning becomes a stage setting. The goal: to frame the architecture, direct light, create flexibility, and calm acoustics.

1. Reading architecture
- Ceiling-high & wall-wide: Curtain as a “wall surface” instead of individual opening.
- Continuous lines: Few wide panels, even wave folds; connect corner windows with continuous lines.
2. Lighting & Layering
- Inner layer: Inbetween/Voile for daylight, anti-glare in the living room/home office (collection).
- Outdoor location: Dim-out/Blackout for evening & screen time (darkening).
Tip: Lateral overhangs (15–25 cm) minimize light gaps on large surfaces.
3. Technology & Geometry
- L-/U-shaped rails: For corner/niche situations; transition gliders ensure smooth folds.
- Apertures: Conceal top view; clear line at the top, optional kiss/break at the bottom.
- Motor system (optional): For comfortable operation on very wide/high systems.

4. Acoustics & Climate
- Large glass surfaces echo; heavy exterior layers dampen, in-between arrange reflections.
- Lateral return (U-profile) reduces drafts in old buildings.

5. Practical examples
Old building with 3.2 m height
Track flush with ceiling + panel, in-between inside, dim-out outside in stone; Kiss on the floor. Result: a larger, calmer spatial effect.

Penthouse with panoramic view
Motorized U-track across the corner; in-between during the day, dim-out at night; matte fabrics to prevent reflections.
6. Measurement & Assembly
- Ceiling-floor height; define kiss vs. break.
- Total width including side overhang; check corner/niche angles.
- Allow 2.0–2.3 folds for folds; calculate load capacity and fastening.
7. Care & Handling
- Number lanes; stagger wash cycles.
- Hang while damp; smooth out wrinkles by hand; remove dust regularly.
8. Errors & Solutions
- Planned too narrow: Gaps & unrest – plan for overhangs.
- Glossy fabrics: glare – matte qualities.
- Too many panels: break in rhythm – fewer, wider.
