Curtains and sheers for the living room

In the living room, curtains and sheers do several jobs: during the day they let light in and block views from outside; in the evening they make the room calm and cosy. That is why many living rooms benefit from two layers – a light sheer for the day and an opaque curtain for the evening. Every model in this collection is made to your measurements.

Modern sheers for the living room

Opaque curtains for the living room

For TV evenings and more privacy, choose textured blackout curtains such as Asti and Lucca, the minimalist Linz, the velvet curtain Milano or patterned jacquard models such as Magnolia and Botanica. A living room rarely needs to be completely dark – fabric, colour and drape often matter more than the blackout level. To keep warmth in during winter, see our thermal curtains.

Combining sheers and curtains

For two layers you need a double track or two rods: the sheer on the inside, close to the window, and the curtain on the outside. The room stays bright during the day, and in the evening you draw the curtain in front. All opaque models are in blackout curtains, all light-filtering ones in made-to-measure sheers.

Large windows and open-plan living

For floor-to-ceiling windows and window fronts, many of our made-to-measure curtains are available up to 400 cm wide; split wider fronts into several panels. In open living and dining areas, room divider curtains such as Flexo or Porto separate zones without building walls.

How to order your living room curtains

  1. Measure your window – the Curtain Measurement Finder works out width and height step by step.
  2. Choose fabric, colour and heading; if unsure, order fabric samples first.
  3. Enter your measurements and order. Production takes about 7 working days, delivery 5–10 working days.

Frequently asked questions

Which sheers look modern in a living room?
Calm natural tones, a linen look and fine textures or stripes are popular. Floor-length sheers that end just above the floor or rest lightly on it look especially calm. For colour ideas, read our article interior colour trends 2026.

How long should living room curtains be?
Usually floor-length: either 1–2 cm above the floor or resting a few centimetres on it. Ideally the rod sits 15–20 cm above the window, with 20–30 cm of overlap on each side.

Do I need both a sheer and a curtain?
Not necessarily. A semi-sheer is enough if you only need privacy during the day. If you want privacy or darkness in the evening, a second, opaque curtain makes sense.
