Cafe curtains for kitchens, bathrooms and small windows

Cafe curtains – also called tier curtains or short curtains – only cover the lower part of the window. They block views from the street while plenty of daylight still comes in at the top. That makes them a popular choice for kitchen windows, bathroom windows, guest toilets, front doors with glass panels and small windows in older homes.

In this collection you will find ready-made cafe curtains in standard sizes from about 40 to 137 cm high and 63 to 250 cm wide – ready to hang, no sewing needed.

Modern, boho or farmhouse cafe curtains

Bathroom curtains and short blackout curtains

For bathrooms, choose the waterproof linen-look short curtain or the waterproof white short curtain: opaque enough for privacy while still letting light through. If you need it darker – in a nursery, basement room or motorhome – choose a short waffle-texture blackout curtain, the short blackout curtain with eyelets or the short blackout curtains for motorhomes and caravans.

Christmas cafe curtains

For the festive season there are Christmas short curtains, for example the Christmas curtain with tassels in red or green, the checked short curtain or the 3-piece set with pompoms for the kitchen window.

Choosing the right size and hanging method

  • Height: measure from the rod to where you want the curtain to end. Covering the lower third to the lower half of the window is typical.
  • Width: for soft gathers, the curtain should be about 1.5 to 2 times the width of the rod. For flat-hanging styles, the window width is enough.
  • Hanging: most models have a rod pocket and fit café rods or tension rods, which clamp inside the window frame without drilling. Some models have eyelets or a double rod pocket for top and bottom.
  • Care: the cafe curtains are made of polyester; according to the product descriptions, most models are machine washable at 40 °C. Please check the details on each product page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between cafe curtains and tier curtains?
Both terms mean the same thing: a short curtain that only covers the lower part of the window. The name "cafe curtain" comes from the windows of traditional coffee houses.

Do I need a drill to hang them?
Not necessarily. Models with a rod pocket slide onto a tension rod that clamps inside the window frame.

Are there matching long curtains?
Yes. For floor-length options, see our made-to-measure sheer curtains or the ready-made curtains & sheers.
